WIPs at Animae Caribe: Projects in Progress

Animae Caribe has always been a fertile ground for innovative content, nurturing creative visions and turning them into reality. Over the years, the festival has served as a launching pad for countless projects, propelling Caribbean animation onto the global stage. With the Animae Caribe Catalogue boasting over 100 incredible concepts, our content has made waves at prestigious festivals around the world, including Annecy in France and Kidscreen in Miami. One of the standout successes from Animae Caribe 2023 was the Big Thinkers Pitch, where Shane Lee-Kit’s project *PB and Buck* caught the eye of industry giants. Now in development with Big Deal Films in the UK, this achievement is a testament to the festival’s role in shaping the future of Caribbean animation.

As we gear up for the 2024 edition, we’re excited to introduce the “WIPs at Animae Caribe: Projects in Progress” panel on Thursday, October 31st. This year’s panel will spotlight three remarkable projects currently in development, each reflecting the diversity and creativity of our region. First up is Mathew Krevetz’s Irie Island, a project by a Virgin Islands medical doctor whose passion for animation has led to the completion of his pilot episode with TTAP Factory in Trinidad. Next, Jeunanne Altkins’ Carnival Project breathes new life into Carnival characters, providing a creative space for their exploration and exposure. Finally, Tobago Trek by E-Pixl Studio is an exploratory game that takes players on a digital adventure through Trinidad and Tobago’s folklore, offering digital tokens to tourists that can be redeemed during their visit to the islands.

Animae Caribe continues to be the beating heart of Caribbean animation, where projects in progress transform into global successes. Stay tuned for these exciting developments and watch as these works-in-progress evolve into the next big hits in animation!
